About the Event
Industry all-rounder Selina Ringel is coming in to UP(st)ART to speak to the world of casting and putting your best foot forward. Selina is a writer/actor/producer who spent 8 years working in casting, so she has truly seen it all! If you have ever wondered about the world on the other side of the camera, here is your chance to ask questions and hear from a pro.
Selina Ringel is an award winning Writer, Producer & Casting Director. Selina is Mexican/American and grew up in Guadalajara, Mexico. She is also Jewish. She has collaborated with an enormous amount of talent including Issa Rae ( INSECURE) , Lee Aronsohn ( TWO AND A HALF MEN), Salvador Paskowitz ( AGE OF ADELINE), Rob Schneider ( DEUCE BIGALOW, MALE GIGALOW). Selina has a strong eye for talent which is what drives all of her creative decisions. She has cast over 60 independent projects including Features, shorts, Commercials augmented reality and web content. Her work has premiered and screened at many film festivals including Cannes Film Festival ( Section L'ACID), Cannes Shorts Corner, Tribeca, Clermont Ferrand and Cinequest film festival. One of the shorts she cast called THE SUITCASE was shortlisted for an Academy Award. She was selected as one of twenty upcoming emerging Latino creators for the Tomorrows Filmmakers Today program sponsored by HBO & The Academy. She has also served as a guest judge for film festivals including Film Outside the Frame and Tilt Up amongst others. Selina serves as a teacher as well giving master classes in collaboration with TEC DE Monterrey, Creator Up, Youtube, AT&T, Mitu Network and other educational programs. She participates heavily in a volunteer program called Art of Elysium. Most recently a feature film called THE BEST PEOPLE, which she wrote and produced was picked up by Shoreline Entertainment at Berlinale, the film also won the Special Jury Award for BEST COMEDY feature at WorldFest Houston and was the Closing Night film at Dances with Films. Selina received her International Baccalaureate at Institute Le Rosey in Switzerland and her BA in Film Production at Loyola Marymount University. She also graduated with a Masters in Fine Arts from the Producing program at the AFI Conservatory in 2014. She is fluent in English, Spanish, French and Italian. She and her husband run their own production company, 2HANDS PRODUCTIONS.
